A couple of times recently I've had a last minute invite to a party or dinner and had no idea what to wear. I saved a couple of photos of Julia Sarr Jamois on my phone to get ideas for inspiration. I love all of her outfits and especially appreciate her love of oversized jeans and sneakers. She definitely makes me think I could use a little more color and playfulness in my wardrobe!

Picture of my hair for the Margiela x H&M post. I was soooo proud of myself. I am obsessed with hair but have very, very poor motor skills so it was really hard to do the swirly thing. If I can do it, you can do it, and I promise the tutorial is on its way.

Speaking of hair, here it is after being freshly colored by my friend Jessica. She used a waving iron on it and I loved the look!!

My mom bought these Kate Spade flats and I might need to get a pair for myself too. I love Barbie shoes.

Did I mention two of my best friends have the Pamela Love for Nine West boots as well? I feel like the girls who scream 'Twinsies!' in the Shit Girls Say video. They are totally sold out now I am sorry to say.

With my sister. She and my mom and my dad just got home from Wales today, I missed them like crazy. Honestly, no one makes me laugh harder than my mom and my sister. It does suck that I'm the oldest sister but also the shortest.

Okay, I have not officially introduced this guy. I did not want to make an official announcment about his adoption because I had so recently adopted Melanie! I would hate for people to think I am a dog hoarder! I am not, and I take animal ownership very seriously (duh). I had always planned on adopting a friend for Melanie, but it happened a little sooner than I had planned.
My aunt had fallen in love with my mom's chihuahuas and was looking to adopt a special chihuahua of her own. She wanted a rescue of course, and she enlisted our help to find the right match for her. I went to Operation Kindness (a WONDERFUL no-kill shelter) with my mom and my sister. When we held Jimmy, he looked up at us with hope and desperation in his eyes, clinging to us like a lifesaver. He was only THREE pounds when I got him, apparently his sister was eating all of his food. There was just no way we could leave him there. We did find a perfect dog (Lupe) for my aunt in the end as well.

Jimmy (full name: Jimmy Dean) has been with me for about three weeks now, and every day I am so thankful that I found him! He is the most affectionate, loving, ridiculous dog I have ever met. Yes, I might have to use the word 'needy' too. He is three years old, and it's just hard to believe because he reminds me of an infant child. Constant holding and snuggles. If he is not in my lap he is deep under his Hello Kitty blanket. Melanie is happy to have a buddy too. Chihuahuas forever.

Dressing Room Hijinks and More

Ahh, what a week! Yesterday I was so happy to get out of my work cave and go spend some time with my family. We had so much fun taking my sister to the mall and watching movies all night  now that she is home. I tried on a few things myself...I have fall fashion fever, someone cure me!! All items available at Neiman Marcus.

My followers on Instagram voted the little black A.L.C. dress a clear winner.

My actual outfit I wore. Patchwork jeans by Maison Scotch and Vince knit sweater.

The graphic leather panels on these Rag & Bone pants were very 70's racer cartoon--I like with the sneakers!

This Alice & Olivia groupie coat--had to  just slip it on. Cha cha!

I snagged these Golden Goose sneakers on sale a while ago and I am so happy I did. This version of them is next on my want list.

I have had so many questions about who designed these boots, and I hate to break it to you guys, but they are vintage. Got them in Austin! Boots of a lifetime, for sure.

Another thing I've had a lot of emails about: this faux fur is by DKNY, and you can still get it here! It's super cute for layering, and the perfect weight for schizophrenic Texas winters.

Found the dress of my dreams by Red Valentino...heartbreaker, huh? It's probably gone now, get over it Jane!! Here is the same dress in black.

I've been shooting an exciting project for Jimmy Choo....kind of drooling on all of the samples they sent over. These leopard pumps might be a must.

Another  pair of Jimmy Choo beauties I had the pleasure of shooting--ballet flats with pom poms!

I ordered this princessy lingerie from Topshop! I combined this bra and panty set with these suspenders.

I saw these Tom Ford pumps with a padlock & key at Neimans the other day. That kinky Tom Ford!! Lots of girls are going crazy for them though...haha!

Melanie in her Martha Stewart dog collection jacket. Awwww. She gets so cold on our walks! I'm going to go nuts buying her clothes....god help me.

These ridiculously gorgeous boots are by Anine Bing. Absolutely my new favorite thing.

My sister got these TOMS velvet skull embroidered slippers from Neimans last summer. So cute!! Definitely hope they do them again!

My mom and I both tried on the Current/Elliot camo zip jeans! She got them, I should have too!

CHEAP THRILLS

I found this skirt in the kids section at Target and had to get it--very Isabel Marant, right? You never know what you'll find! Worn with a Madewell belt and a thrifted sweatshirt I cut up.

NEW YORK MINUTE

Above is my favorite snapshot I got in New York--poor babies are all tuckered out. I am too after a whirlwind trip! Here are some Instagrams from the trip, so happy to see so many friends!

We were so fortunate to be hosted by the Mandarin Oriental in New York. What a spectacular view we had!

We were treated to a chef's tasting at the beautiful Asiate restaraunt in the Mandarin Oriental. It was certainly the highlight of the trip, if not the highlight of my life ;) You cannot believe the food we had! I will post more pictures soon.

When I said these were my favorite jeans, I wasn't kidding. I wore them 5 days out of 6. The cap toe pumps are from Schutz! I also got my new favorite pair of shoes from Schutz. More cap-toe perfection below.

Suede black and white cap toe ankle boots! That's what I've been dreaming of. I'll post more of these and of the Schutz opening soon :)

I finally met the Beckerman Bite Plate sisters!! We have been Instagram friends for so long, I feel like I've known them forever! I love the Beckerman family!!

I jumped for joy when I saw these girls!! I wish I could do IRL with my internet friends all the time. Andy and Nicolette are the best.

One of the highlights of the trip was when I got to DJ the ASOS Rewardstyle party on Saturday night. Here I am with Leigh Lezark who DJed after me and Amber of Rewardstyle. So great to meet so many bloggers that night!! I will be posting a mix of what I played soon--keep your eyes peeled.

My favorite photo apps for iPhone!

 

1. DECOPIC
With DECOPIC you can make your pictures look like they came from a cute Japanese photobooth ;) you can unlock filters too by sending them to your friends! They have so many funny stamps.

 

2. Infinicam
It's called Infinicam because there are literally an infinite number of filters you can come up with! Each filter is generated by a code...when you discover one you like you can save it and use it again. Very cool frames and light leaks in this app!

 

3. Photo wonder

This one is awesome because you can put clothes and jewelry on your pictures. Also, they have eye enlarging and slimming options...pretty mutated.

4. Horse Lover's Camera
Full credit for this beautiful app discovery goes to Laura...ever since she turned me on to it, I have been horse cam-ing everything near and dear to me. I'm unashamed to admit to paying 99 cents for extra pony features.
